Inner Sunset is like an ocean with a few impressive rocks in it. A peaked hill and a big pink church are most outstanding in the neighborhood. Some schools form the more lively rocks. Meanwhile a tram winds like a snake, slowly and cautious, through the stony streets of Inner Sunset. The sea is remarkably quiet. There is only some movement in the lower area where some shops are located. Comfortable looking houses and three or four story apartment buildings are crawling up the slopes towards the hill. As if a giant wave has frozen, so quiet it seems.

Inner Sunset is a comfortable residential neighborhood. Single family housing and small scale apartment buildings are situated along wide streets. Only small development by parcel will preserve the character of the neighborhood, big densification projects wouldn't be wise. Great opportunities for improving the neighborhood can be found in the public space. A new section for Kirkham Street, an important bicycle route of San Francisco, not only proposes freestanding bicyle lanes but also creates safer streets with more trees, plants and flowers.
