Assen Diepstroeten is a housing project set in a park landscape on a site with existing institutional facilities and housing for disabled people. Outdated institutional buildings will be demolished and a new neighborhood with a strong connection with the landscape will be developed in their place. The project was designed to create interaction between new residents and the disabled community.
400 dwellings, mixed use, infrastructure, public space, neighborhood park and landscape
The existing creek landscape is extended into the new neighborhood and the green-blue framework maximizes views on the landscape throughout the neighborhood. Existing height differences in the new park areas are used for rainwater retention, nature playgrounds, native vegetation and continuous views and vistas on the surrounding landscape.
